Again, it is my pleasure to share with you another completed chapter from the Tao Te Ching that we are translating. Tao Te Ching translates to The Way of the Action of the Soul.

In 2004 Alan and I made the surprising discovery that The Way of the Action of the Soul was written about the nine Soultypes, and that its specific purpose is to help people spiritually develop using the wisdom of the Soultypes.

Eighty-one chapters in all, The Way of the Action of the Soul contains nine chapters for each Soultype. From our search worldwide, it is the only historical document we have found thus far dedicated to the Soultypes. Reading these ancient words penned over 2,000 years ago is an extraordinary experience! Translating from Chinese requires much care.

Our first translations were published in 2004 and 2005, and we are thrilled to now be pulling out even more information about the Soultypes from this remarkable text.

Soultype 3, Chapter 12
Translation by Siska Tovey and Alan Sheets

The eyes can become blind to all colors.
The ears can become deaf to all sounds.
The mouth can become dulled to all flavors.

Too much chasing and hunting over-excites the heart and mind.
Precious treasures make a person’s actions harmful.

Therefore, the sage cares for what’s inside, not to what their eyes see.
They forgo the latter and choose the former.
